Summer Rental is a comedy film that was released in 1985. The movie is set in the fictional town of Citrus Cove, Florida, but was actually filmed in several locations throughout the state. The primary filming location was the Gulf Coast of Florida, with most of the beach scenes being filmed in St. Pete Beach and Treasure Island. Other filming locations include Clearwater, St. Petersburg, and Indian Rocks Beach. The production also shot scenes in Georgia, including at the Six Flags Over Georgia amusement park. The film starred John Candy as Jack Chester, an overworked air traffic controller who takes his family on a summer vacation to Florida, only to experience a series of comedic misadventures. Summer Rental was directed by Carl Reiner and produced by George Shapiro and Howard West.
